October 10th

Over the last few weeks, students have taken notes on ankle, wrist and knee injuries, including immediate treatments and how to grade the severity of the injury.  We then spent a few days taping our fingers, wrists and finally the ankle.  The last class before our Fall Break, students began their sports injury research project.  We will work on this assignment for around 5 more classes when we return.

August 29th, 2019

In Sports Medicine, we began with an activity where students named all the sports they could think of, all the muscles, bones and ligaments of the body they know, all the medical conditions they could come across as a sports medic, and all the nutritional aspects they were aware of including carbohydrates, proteins, fats etc.

In our other two classes, students have taken notes on First Aid, which will lead into a quiz, and then a research assignment on common ailments they should learn to prepare for, should the need to step up in unique situations, should the need ever arise.
